Jak przepraszać po angielsku? How to say 'I'm sorry'?
Dzisiaj coś leksykalnie prostego, ale w praktyce i wykonaniu... No, cóż – bywa różnie ;) Jak powiedzieć 'przepraszam' w różnych sytuacjach? Zaczynamy!
'I'm so sorry!'
'Oh! Sorry!'
'Whoops! Sorry!'
'Sorry about that'
'Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry'
'Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry'
Całkiem popularne będzie też 'my bad' lub 'my fault' – czyli takie 'moja wina'.
'I apologise'
'I am deeply sorry'
'My apologies'
'My mistake'
'I had that wrong'
Coraz bardziej oficjalnie będą brzmiały np.:
'I'd like to apologise'
'I want/I wanted to apologise'
'I owe you an apology'
'I wanted to tell you I'm sorry'
'That was wrong of me. I hope you can forgive me'
Warto pamiętać, że 'przepraszać za coś' to 'apologise for doing something', np.:
'I'd like to apologise for being late' (zwróćcie uwagę, że do czasownika dodajemy wtedy końcówkę -ing)
'I owe you an apology for messing it up' (to samo – zawsze z -ing)
'I sincerely apologise (for...)' (szczerze przepraszam)
'I take full responsibility' (biorę pełną odpowiedzialność na siebie)
możemy potem dodać:
'... for my behaviour'
'... for my actions'
'... for any problems I may have caused'
i jeszcze więcej przykładów:
Warto przy tej okazji przypomnieć, że zdarza nam się omylnie nadużywać zwrotu 'Sorry' w sytuacji kiedy też przepraszamy, ale nie za coś co zrobiliśmy źle – ale żeby coś zrobić, np. żeby przejść w tłumie, zadać pytanie, zwrócić na siebie uwagę itp. Zamiast 'sorry' mówimy wtedy 'Excuse me', 'Pardon me' lub po prostu 'Pardon'.
Jeszcze dwie piosenki o przepraszaniu...
Na początek Marillion...
Keileigh
Do you remember chalk hearts melting on a playground wall
Do you remember dawn escapes from moon washed college halls
Do you remember the cherry blossom in the market square
Do you remember I thought it was confetti in our hair
By the way didn't I break your heart?
Please excuse me, I never meant to break your heart*
So sorry, I never meant to break your heart
But you broke mine
Kayleigh is it too late to say I'm sorry?
And Kayleigh could we get it together again?
I just can't go on pretending that it came to a natural end
Kayleigh, oh I never thought I'd miss you
And Kayleigh I thought that we'd always be friends
We said our love would last forever
So how did it come to this bitter end?
Do you remember barefoot on the lawn with shooting stars
Do you remember loving on the floor in Belsize Park
Do you remember dancing in stilettoes in the snow
Do you remember you never understood I had to go
By the way, didn't I break your heart
Please excuse me, I never meant to break your heart*
So sorry, I never meant to break your heart
But you broke mine
Kayleigh I just wanna say I'm sorry
But Kayleigh I'm too scared to pick up the phone
To hear you've found another lover to patch up our broken home
Kayleigh I'm still trying to write that love song
Kayleigh it's more important to me now you're gone
Maybe it will prove that we were right
Or ever prove that I was wrong
Do you remember dawn escapes from moon washed college halls
Do you remember the cherry blossom in the market square
Do you remember I thought it was confetti in our hair
By the way didn't I break your heart?
Please excuse me, I never meant to break your heart*

*Zwróćcie uwagę, że tutaj 'excuse me' jest używane w znaczeniu 'forgive me'

"Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word"
Sorry seems to be the hardest word
What I got to do to make you love me?
What I got to do to make you care?
What do I do when lightning strikes me?
And I wake to find that you're not there?
What I got to do to make you want me?
What I got to do to be heard?
What do I say when it's all over?
Sorry seems to be the hardest word.
It's sad, so sad
It's a sad, sad situation.
And it's getting more and more absurd.
It's sad, so sad
Why can't we talk it over?
Oh, it seems to me
That sorry seems to be the hardest word.
What do I do to make you want me?
What I got to do to be heard?
What do I say when it's all over?
Sorry seems to be the hardest word.
It's sad, so sad
It's a sad, sad situation.
And it's getting more and more absurd.
It's sad, so sad
Why can't we talk it over?
Oh, it seems to me...
Sorry seems to be the hardest word.
Yeah.
Sorry!
What do I do to make you love me?
What I got to do to be heard?
What do I do when lightning strikes me?
What have I got to do?
What have I got to do?
When sorry seems to be the hardest word.
What I got to do to make you love me?
What I got to do to make you care?
What do I do when lightning strikes me?
And I wake to find that you're not there?
What I got to do to make you want me?
What I got to do to be heard?

Yeah.
Sorry!

Have fun and say sorry with ease!
